What we treat

Mental health care for veterans

Veterans arrive with histories that civilian intake forms are not built for. Care here starts from that rather than working around it.

What it can look like

  • Hypervigilance that made sense then and persists now
  • Sleep disrupted by nightmares or an inability to stand down
  • Irritability or anger that surfaces faster than it used to
  • Feeling disconnected from civilian life, or from people close to you
  • Drinking or using to quiet things down
  • Difficulty adjusting after separation from service

You do not need to recognise all of these, and recognising them is not a diagnosis. That is what the evaluation is for.

How we approach it

Care is trauma-informed, which matters particularly here: you will not be required to narrate events you are not ready to discuss in order to be treated. Pacing is yours to set.

Treatment covers what is actually presenting — sleep, hypervigilance, mood, substance use — rather than treating everything as a single label. Where structured trauma-focused therapy is what would help most, we will say so and coordinate.
